Player Activity
This curve is about the will to play. Therefore, I have included all games, even voided and aborted ones.

The rank of each player is based on the Rank Number (RK). The RK itself is calculated by Point Factor (PF) times Victory Factor (VF) ---> RK = PF x VF / 10 (10 for "nice" numbers.)
I will explain PF and VF, soon. First I have to mention, that I was constantly running into problems with zero values, because many players still don't have a victory or a loss. Additionally, negative values were a problem, too. Therefore, I have given each player a credit of 100 points. Also, in order to prevent accumulating points by massive playing, I have adopted Mrmot's scoring system. I have just doubled the points, in order to have "nice" numbers, again
Victory = 2 points
Loss = -2 points
Draw = 1 point
Now, the PF is calculated as follows: PF = 100 + 2*V + (-2)*L + 1*D with
V = number of victories
L = number of losses
D = number of draws
Accumulating points by massive playing doesn't really reflect skill. With this scoring system you can only earn points by more winning than losing.
Now, take a look at the PF of Ninja Sen and Mighty Mike (or Blacky's and mine). They have the same PF, but Senator and Bleachbeard have the better victory-ratio.
That's why I have introduced the VF: VF = (V + (0,5 * D)) / G * 100 with
G = number of games
This idea is also based on Mrmot's suggestion in a former tourney.
In conclusion the equation reads as follows: RK = (100 + 2*V + (-2)*L + 1*D) * (V + (0,5 * D)) / G * 10
This equation is still experimental. I have to watch if values are going to skew into wrong direction.
As always players with very few victories would lead the ranks. I still have no solution for this problem in the equation. I solve this problem by just removing players who haven't played at least 10% (maybe 5% in the end) of the total amount of games. There is another problem. In my opinion a player with a 5-5 score is higher ranked than a player with a score of 2-2. Of course they have the same rank in a mathematical way.
It's obvious that my math skills are limited. Any suggestions to improve this equation are appreciated (Ace, Mike, Sen, mvpe, anybody?).
