Nuclear Bomb Explosion Movies
I don't know if someone has created a thread about this yet - but I think we should share those awesome nuke moments in film history.
To get it started, I really like the opening credits of Thirteen Days with all the nukes exploding everywhere.

Then there was the only decent thing about Terminator 3, the view of earth from space with multiple nukes going off.

ok....I'm not that bad...but it does give me shivers when I watch it.
I exaggerate a smudge. But still, while there have been one-two episodes a season I could have done without, the show is light years ahead of the 'new' Stargate SG-1 (Ben Bowden was great in Farscape, but he's no Jack O'Neil, long live RDA), and Atlantis has already, in its second season, fallen into a portal and has been transported to the magically mediocre Realm of Formulaica - a place SG-1 bought a summer home in way back in season eight. What other 'great' sci-fi shows are there these days?
And to stay on topic...
King Dinosaur
Plot: Four astronauts land on a planet that has 'drifted' into our solar system, where they find iguana-like dinosaurs (real iguanas with horns and stuff glued/stapled/etc onto them) and 'Joey the Lemur' (which is really a kinkajou). They get scared, so they nuke the place.
The MST3K treatment of this movie is a classic, and MUST be seen.

At any given time in history, has there been more than one, maybe two good sci-fi shows on television? How many periods have there been with no good sci-fi? It might be argued that there were two shows in the 90s: DS9 and B5. In the 80s? *shrugs* I could probably count all of the good sci-fi shows that have ever been aired on both hands and a foot...
Plus: Doctor Who?

By these days, I meant 'currently in production and/or airing'. (I loved Farscape!)
The new BSG is it, at least on this side of the pond, IMO.
I'd be inclined to call Doctor Who fantasy, rather than sci-fi, but that's just me, YMMV. And though it's nice that it's on the air again, and I dig the new Cybermen, I have my own problems with the current iteration, mostly due to Davies' lack of imagination when it comes to season-wide story arcs. But that's straying off topic yet again.

Tell ya what: I am far more interested in this discussion of television science fiction than the idea of posting picutures of movie nukes. I will head over to the lounge and start a new topic.

Noo! continue it here. We must uphold our ability to derail any topic into off-topic discussion for about 10 pages before getting back on to topic!
(plus it changes the standard deviation of this forum to not discuss things here; I did some statistical samples
