Likely Specs

Postby Jetpac » Wed Jun 21, 2006 6:28 pm

This may be a question for the betatesters if they can answer it (or not, i dunno)

what are the likely specs of playing this game? as if its half as good as its looking i will want to play it on my laptop.

Vaio t2xp
1.2 Pentium
512mb ram
60gb HDD
intergrated graphics (which i dont know if will be the limiting factor, i think it was with darwinia, since playing it was horrendusly slow)

ta :P

The specs are likley to be the same as darwinia, but as defcon doesn't have 3D graphics, your laptop should (no promises) be fine.

It looks to be not too much harder to run than Uplink, but with more colours.

Im sure most pc's post 2003 will have no problems with it, I reckon, and this is pure speculation, the specs will be somewhere between uplink and darwinia, so at a guess, for decent framerate and resolution:

800mhz processor
128mb Ram
some kind of video card, onboard chips may even be fine
and since the game is small, 100mb hdd? could even be less

But like I said, pure speculation

Introversion will almost definitely release official specs closer to release date, game companies always do.

I hope the specs are fairly low so it can be installed on a tablet pc or umpc, that would be fun with the touch screen :D

excellent, should be great for inter-office wireless warfare on a laptop,
I know I wont have a problem with it, my computer has enough of everything:

3.4ghz
1gb ram
x1600pro gfx
about 40gig free

As I said, any desktop post 2003 will (probably) have no problem whatsoever, its just laptops which were the main concern, but it sounds like it will be fine.
As soon as this game is released, Im gonna bug my friends till they buy it, then have a huge lan game :p

2003? I'm pretty sure my rig from 2000 will be able to handle it...

AMD XP 1800+ 1.5 Ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce3 Ti 200
310GB HD

Guess running it on my Dell Latitude CPi while wardriving is out of the question... damn. I was really wanting to do that too. I mean i can run Uplink on it fine. Plus i upgraded it to 256mb like four years ago - roflmao.

The specs for Defcon should be closer to those of Uplink rather than closer to those of Darwinia. However, until final optimisations have taken place, the exact spec required is unknown.

All we know is, it's gonna be ultra-low-end, and only a handful of megabytes. Remember, IV are designing this with underhand office play in mind and no offices have fast terminals in them.
