Finding my way around here

So I've finally decided to get serious with this game.
Knew it when it came out in 2006, but only played around a bit with it back then.



Now I am thinking about recreating cold-war scenarios with several people. I spent quite a few hours browsing your board.

Are my assumptions correct?
- The "polar" map mod is the best way to restage cold-war crisis situations.
- There is no way to reduce aircraft speed
- There is no way to change aircraft ranges
- There is no way to set the game time below "real time" (apart from pause)
- Large map size doesn't actually change anything except for radar range - unit range and speed remain unchanged.

ALL CORRECT , though I think there's a small bug on large scale maps that gives fighters more range than they should have - but don't quote me on it .

...oh, and you get more units with larger scale maps of coirse .

I get more units, but never enough.
Even variable setups doesn't permit enough radar dishes to simulate historical levels, I fear.
