I suggest we dope-test Baton.

He has gone from good to thrashing Bosses in the last month.

Well, Baton beat us mostly in 1v1. Ace and i won against him twice in 2v2 yesterday.
I cant speak for the others, but in my view 1v1 is a tiny little bit different than 2v2. With no 1v1 training you can get in trouble very quickly.
I for one didnt play a serious 1v1 for many month if not years. I dunno when the last 1v1 tourney was (Ace Season 3 or something) but since then it was mostly 2v2 for me.
On top of that, Baton played us in "his" setups (EU vs Russia). He had a very good battle plan and forced us to fight on his terms.
I think i played in 3 times in a different setup (two times being Asia vs Russia) and lost only against the Star.

That being said however, Baton has come a long way. He plays disciplined and very aggressive, he knows what will happen in a game and its very hard to surprise him. Its unlikely that he ll get a win percentage good enough for boss status, but IMO, based on the displayed development he has earned it anyway.

I may relax the % required for Boss (for challengers) if he is over 60%, not sure yet. I will say that Baton is (obviously) the best challenger.

I suggest to change "-> boss transition" requirements this way:

For 1v1s- 50%. If you win more then half vs "average boss", then you should be boss yourself.
For 2v2s- 33% (or may be 25%). Considering you are playing against 2 bosses with non-boss ally.

Then in percentages you measure progress to the target (from 0% to actual %) for both 1v1 and 2v2 and then count average of them. If that average exceeds 100% then a player is boss for the next tourney. Example:

Baton: 58.8% for 1v1, 33.3% for 2v2.

58.8% / 50% = 118% progress for 1v1; 33.3% / 33% = 101% progress for 2v2. Average = (118% + 101%) / 2 = 110% > 100% (i.e. currently qualifies for boss.
