music to listen to while playing Defcon.

Postby odstjj75 » Sun Oct 05, 2008 6:26 am

music to listen to while you play its already a beautiful sound track.
but after a while in my opinion its just gets boring, and people caughing kinda makes me smile in that twisted way but if im losing listening to somebody caugh isnt what i prefer.
my favorite is gorlillaz, maybe some light R&B nothing to heavy,

any suggestions?

Hello , lucky for you that you like that background music but i hate it .
Actually i want to buy this game but only if there is a option to swith that horrible music off

I dont want to listen to toilet music while i am playing word war III .

Was it not better for the gameplay if they put computersounds and some talking in the
background like you hear on commandocentra off the pentagon ? like in the movies ?
yes something like that . With the option offcource to swith that of because some people
will hate that . :D

I wish i can swith the music off

sorry about that

You can switch the music off.

/me goes to search for options other than setting in-game volume to 0

Some Options:

NoCry Mod (2.68KB)
NoMusic Mod (2.55KB)
NoMusic NoAmbience Mod (2.37KB)

Installation; extract into your Defcon directory.
Uninstallation; Locate your Defcon/data directory, delete "sounds.txt", rename "backup sounds.txt" to "sounds.txt".

How's that for simplicity and elegance?

Or:

In the /data folder, find the file called sounds.txt. Remove it. Also remove sounds_minimal.txt. Rename sounds_nosounds.txt to sounds.txt, and you're done.

No problem. The game is well worth the money.

I'll stick my music on random mostly, or put some Bill Hicks on. Can't beat some Hicks while you nuke folk. Not strictly music mind, but still..

I don't believe the relevant post (second one) is asking for any suggestions. In fact, the first post is duplicate of another thread that went it's merry way.

In other news, I rarely listen to anything while playing defcon.

I am still enjoying the default music. If I wanted something different it would be as light as I could find, sort of coldplay style I guess.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (but only the Dorati recording which uses both an actual period French cannon and the optional brass band component).

I have the Chicago Symphony Orchestra version in my playlist here at work, but I wouldn't want to listen to it very many times in a typical game of Defcon, especially one with (MOR) (long). :P
