Who be "nicks" ?

Postby - Tobias - » Fri Oct 03, 2008 6:41 pm

With the MetaServer down, it is impossible to trace a regular player to his keyID. Today I roundly defeated a player in a 1v1 game using the alias of "nicks". Does anybody know who that might have been?

(I probably would not have gone to the effort of outing the loser in public, except that instead of the customary "good game" game concluding chat, he made the whiny "lucky" comment.)

Bottom line: his strategy failed at the hands of Tobias. No luck. Fate maybe, but no luck.

After all the uproar you made about you being outed, Why should this be any different?
Because he disrespected your game play?

As you know, my "uproar" related to outings that take place prior to game play, not after. Moreover, my protests, while perhaps bothersome, were never disrespectful.

No they weren't disrespectful, I agree. But what your asking too do is out someone's alias. If they do, That alias can't be used again or used with fear of recognition of true identity.
Would that not go against what you wanted me to do?

Um, you are right. But, with a little effort post-game, anyone can find a player's keyID (provided the MetaServer is working) from the recording. But again, you are right. Alias's should be respected. (I found what I was looking for.)

No, he who cares, cries when he loses.

Tobias, i noticed you use alot of well known player names to disguise. I think, thats not right. Why dont you just use random names?
Btw i like your playing style, and enjoy playing you very much, so dont get me wrong.

Geez, ya know, sometimes my creative juices to come up with a new name just run out. But actually I rarely impersonate a known player in a game - although I do sometimes join as a spectator with the same name as a current player (). I do, however, admit to playing about 5 or so games as Buck Turgisdon, but you'll notice it's not exactly the same spelling. I also admit to playing a few games a moo (it was an easy one to "think" of). Beside these two impersonations, I can't really think of any other that I've done. In any case, you are right. I shall do no more. Maybe I go back to Death Kiss. XO

I know. This is way too easy. Hopefully Introversion does another round of marketing so I can get some decent opponents. And, oh, btw, you should see what I am knitting for the holidays!
