Hello. I just recently started playing around with DEFCON a few weeks ago. I saw my son playing it on my computer and it looked interesting, so I dove right in and have enjoyed playing. I have browsed the web and these forums for some more in depth strategy guidance than the tutorial provided, and have since gotten better at beating the AI in a variety of territories. I even tried out fighting 1v2 against the AI (the AI had two and were teamed) and I managed to come out on top, so I figured I'm ready to play against real people now. Managed to find a 1v1 game on the group6 server and got beat up but still had fun.
On to my questions:
1) having trouble finding games to join against other people.
Is there a time when people are generally on more than others?
Do people make plans to play a certain game at a specific time (a play date)
* and if so, anyone up for some late evening games? 10pm CST is usually when I'm looking to play
Is it considered rude in the community to just drop into a game?
Is this the forum that the majority of the DEFCON community uses?
2) strategy
I have read that NA is one of the more difficult territories to play as. I have the most challenging time when playing NA, doesn't really matter who the opposing territory is. Any specific strats? I have found at least against the AI.. if I just abandon the pacific completely navally, I can beat Russia pretty well. and vs Asia can pretty much ignore atlantic. but africa seems to be especially tricky for me.
Thanks for any replies, and I hope to get into playing with more real people in the future here.

Re: Just Started playing have some questions
I will try to help you, the weekends are the busyist times, during the week there are a few day games and early evening games. If you have a steam account you can hook up with players there to get a game. As far as strategy goes and particular set ups you will find as you get more familier with the game you will have a favorite placing for each territory. As a general rule you must always group your silos and group them out of radar range of another territory.. watching the pros play will give you a great advantage. good luck.

Greetings Romulancuisine,
If you are on steam, you can add me below. If you don't use steam,I strongly advise for it,I find myself having to ask fiends to come and play and they ask me. We can get a game filled up on the quick.
