Commander Round Table - 6 Player vs 1v1 & 2v2

This is a serious discussion so I have posted under this moniker and not Christmas Commander
The Commander believes that the demise of 6 Player Deafult and Totally Random has resulted in less powerful new players emerging, a standardisation of playing styles and tactics that have reduced variety, unorthodoxy and innovation thus overall creating less variety, speed and fun plus overall competition in Defcon.
Discuss whether or not you agree with Commander or please put forward your case that 1v1 and 2v2 have their own merits that outstrip the learning curve, tactics and playing styles produced by 6 Player games
I am very interested in the very first ever "Commander Round Table".

In other news the servers have been dead today. Everyone out doing Christmas Shopping in the 21st C or something?
