We protested and Baton's ban was revoked..because the ban was unfair (for all, admins or not, except kudayta and endless..against their admins).


Noone think we don't need a mod structure...it's you that don't believe in a mod structure not respecting the action of the "local" admins.

The old Baton's affair is not an argument, is produced in a context that you can't act to not understand properly. We recognized that he didnt deserve to be banned.

And finally my ban is unfair!

I missed that first time. I'm fine with forums being the face of Introversion idea, but then you speak for the staff. You do invent the Introversion's vision in your mind, then follow through it, justifying with the IV's name - despite neither of the staff admins ever communicated to you their views on the prefferable style of forum moderation.

Why can't I create some ideas for the board then?

An excellent question! Because literally everyone has their ideas on how to run the board. I believe it was a silent agreement that Defcon mods keep their ideas to themselves, and so do moderators on other boards by analogy. It helped to avoid a collision and following shitstorm, like one happening right now. If we are equal, how can you judge whose ideas are better ?

Yes.

You don't single handed get to determine the future of this forum without firstly) a pressure to do so, and secondly) the consultation of all the other mods and admins who are your equal but have a much deep knowledge of how the community functions.

Vic, I, Kudayta, Laika, Bert, Jelco > we are all in the same group. IV Forum Admins. In reality, it's just a cosmetic name. We're really just moderators.

The fact is the only thing that you can't stop is the wrong use of the power by a moderator...that clearly uses it in a strictly personal way.

It just seems like you're giving me all this flak, to try and drive me away. The whole "concerned troll" thing gives me that impression.

No "concern troll" is an actual thing. There once was a guy who replied to folks who's avatar picture was beyond 80x80 pixel. When you upload an image it tells you to stick to these dimensions, but doesn't enforce it.
If you also find it ridiculously to stalk people for ignoring such a minor rule, then you know what a concern troll is.

And they aren't seeing things at all. The thought is > this is the face of Introversion > it's not being handled well at all > mods are left to their own devices while the staff are mostly absent > if left unchecked, it's going to bite them in the ass sooner or later. You're right, John has nothing to do with my ambitions. But it's not like John is doing anything with the website either. Why can't I create some ideas for the board then?

You can say what you want but still what you did is like a substitute teacher coming into a different class and giving the head professor who has tenure a lecture on how he's teaching his class wrong, catch my drift?

2. In this community's nine year history, your attitude has never been shared by Introversion, nor its admins. What gives you the right, on your own, to change this?

And why is it so bad for an outsider to bring in something new to the table? Are you so used to the current system that anything changed is a travesty? Baton's removal was a big change, sure, but he had one of the worst attitudes. Why keep him? Because he's been here for years. I get it, but that's still no reason to go against rules that the staff already enacted.

This is exactly our point. You aren't a member of the community & you don't know the community. If you did you would know Baton is a very intrenched member of our community who, as of right now is probably the best player, and has (most of us) our respect to at least some degree. And when we reach an agreement with him & some outsider who isn't a part of our community comes in and makes those negotiations worthless

Our ideas are different. Things we have to say are different as well. Why do you interpret my or someone else's silence as silent agreement with your position ? People may agree, or disagree, or somewhere in between, or not care at all - no one can ever know for sure. Why do you think that you do (or so it seems to me) ?
