What are you trying to do? Configure a server? Or just get dedcon to run?

Yes. Provide some more detail. For the record I think the README and ConfigFile.sample are pretty clear on getting DedCon to run and configuring it.

It's pretty easy. Make the file config file, call it in a loop. Give the loop some perms if needed, run the loop.

On a Linux command line:

Get DedCon

Code: Select all

wget http://defcon.vsj.fi/dedcon-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.6.0.tar.bz2

Extract DedCon

Code: Select all

tar -xjf dedcon-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.6.0.tar.bz2

Change working directory to the one that came out of the tar ball

Code: Select all

cd dedcon-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.6.0

Create a config file and edit it to suit your needs.

Code: Select all

cp ConfigFile.sample MyFirstServer.conf
editor MyFirstServer.conf

Make sure the DedCon binary and the loop script are executable.

Code: Select all

chmod +x dedcon loop.sh

Pass your shiny new config to the loop.

Code: Select all

./loop.sh MyFirstServer.conf

You may need to install some stuff to be able to run dedcon if you're on a 64 bit architecture. If you happen to use Debian or a Debian based distro, have a look at https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO
Otherwise google :)

Is that of any help?

On Windows it's probably something like ... umm ... click the icon after clicking a lot of yes during installation.

There is much to learn and many ways going about it.

Really the best thing to do is first, go over the ReadMe. Second, look at the config sample. It should fall into place from there.
