One year of EU vs RU

Postby VSj » Thu Nov 20, 2014 1:37 am

It has been a little over a year since I put up the VSj's 1v1 - EUvsRU random.

It was a quick afternoon project on a whim just for fun and to get to know Dedcon. I never thought it would gain the popularity that it did and it has made me happy :)

The settings have been:

Code: Select all

CitiesPerTerritory 25
PopulationPerTerritory 100
WorldScale 100
CityPopulations 3 #TotallyRandom.

apart from PopulationPerTerritory being slightly more than that for some time in the beginning.

I was wondering if you've had any thoughts on those. Should we keep it like it is or could random, equalized or default cities give it a twist? What about the number of cities, total population or world scale, or something else? At one time I played with the thought of utilizing the naval blacklisting for some areas but I think that is not a good idea at all. Feel free to suggest or discuss.

I already think of it as a classic, so you probably should not change anything about it.

A bigger worldscale might be interesting to put EU silos out of scout range and RU cities out of indian sub range, when those both are the most annoying things about the match up, but then I don't know anybody who actually likes changed world scales.

One thing you should change is that terrible bot on your server. Bot-an or what it is called. It plays very unfair and once you ran out of nukes to beat it, it starts it's sympathy flavour chat, how it has practicted that setup or how it was beat once by a player called R3D. Terrible!

Increase the map size like sen said. Not to drastically so you get lots of exstra units. Eu is always "crappy" to play in that scenario not enough room. Also would move some city's in Russia impossible to save & no more sub launches in the Indian.

Dont listen to this pretty boy  just leave all as it is.

As for me this is the best server ever more than 100+ games played there!and you Sicilian arent even showing in the list as player who ever played there so your advice is not to be considered. Its like me advising Senator about german cars..
