.. Defcon game last?
I am interested in purcahsing the game, obviously game length is not going to be the decisive factor in whether i buy the game or not.

That all depends on your usage of real-time, the number of players and the game mode.
Example: a good 1v1 match where both players are cautious could well take 2h to play. In-game that could amount to 6-7-....11h (with some "fast forwarding" of action).
A 6-player diplomacy game typically tends to take about 45 to 90 minutes in my experience.
A big-world game would last longer (I think) because the map is twice as big, whereas speed defcon revolves around 15 minutes of real time action.
You can also start a game with a predefined limit of real time (not real time usage in game, but effective "how many minutes till it ends"). See the "king of the hill" 1v1 ladder for an example of this.
