there is a group on Steam called DEFCON generals. There are 39 players that are active that communicate with each other via chat on Steam to get games played. I would suggest you join that group on Steam if you would like to get more games played than normal.

The Polar Ice Mod is not Dedcon compatible. From my understanding its a 3 territory map only. Dedcon is a 6 player territory map. There for when you start the game Dedcon is thinking there are 3 other territory to place you when there is not.

Senator and I tried working on this problem with different commands restricting the only 3 territory such as,

Territory4 SA
Territory5 AF
Territory6 AS


But even after those commands it still misplaced people in territory that didn't exist causing players not being able to place units. So the end result this Mod server has been shut down. But I assure everyone there is definitely a follow up Mod server coming soon.(:

If it doesn't work then I have no idea what these TerritorySelection options are there for anyways or how to make a less then 6 player map work with dedcon.

I tried those settings like 40 times; 1 player, 2 players, with mod, without mod, with Territory1 Random and without. Only thing I not tried was what happens if I select a territory (to many combinations and possible outcomes).
And it worked every single time!!!

Kinda makes me angry how you throw it away for the next best thing without sorting the problem first. Even more as the yingyang mod would need exactly the same kind of config.

It probably was just something silly like a spelling error or so which prevented it from working.

We are just at the trial stages of Dedicated Mod servers. This really has never been attempted by Group 6 or anyone of that matter, so this is new grounds we need to discover. All Mod servers will be locked until they are proven to be in working condition. This thread is simply here for help on my part for now.

Further more, Lord Haw Haw & I where testing last night as well & found the same discovery as you. Only problem I see is if a Noob comes doesn't realize he is suppose to pick territory and he gets misplaced way off the map. Ruining the hole game.

If you have a look at the images in ~coldwar\polar\earth folder, you can see that there are 6 territories. But only 3 of them have a landmass: NA, RU and Asia.
I am not into dedcon-configs but i believe that something like this:

could fix it.

Defcon probably expects 6 territories (images) to be there and I guess that the Ying-Yang mod also only uses 2 of 6 available territories, leaving the other ones empty/black 'for compatibility'.

You must have misunderstood me.

I said my 1st proposal works as expected, no need to manually select it. The reason it did not work for you must be something else in the config.

Rad Poisons proposal woks too, only drawback would be the predictability of what territory you get.

Oh, I see now. If Asia is in the mod, then Asia should not be excluded.
So I correct my proposal to:

In fact all of our configs are pretty bare but for game options unique to that server. So I firmly believe its just Dedcon saying no this doesn't make sense so I am not going to work. lol
