Amen. Screensaver mode would rock. Maybe as a patch after release, or an addon or something?

Nah... included as standard would be best.

But what about running the screensaver on an office PC when there are the type of 'Induhviduals' around who follow the pattern of those mentioned in the 'This is not real' thread.

Haha.. reminds me of my roommate a few years back. He was kinda skittish, aned I shared a dorm room with him. I was playing Battlezone or something or other at the time.. real time text-based war strategy game. I had finally saved up enough cash in the game to manufacture my first nuke. I was all excited, and I turned to him saying, "I just ordered a Nuke! It should arrive tomorrow!".

He turned to look at me, horrified. "What, here?!".

I just stared at him for a minute, then quietly left the room so he didn't see me bust out laughing. But seriously, one of my proudest moments ever. My roommate thought I actually had the means and connections to have a nuke delivered to my dorm room. :-D

And I was suggesting as a patch just because I don't want the shipping date to be pushed back 3 months because they have to add screensaver code.

Would you actually notice another 3 months?

Yeah, I would. I'd understand... hell, I waited for Oblivion. But I'd definitely notice.

just a random spam post: screensavers for linux and every other OS that runs an X11 server are also simple binaries that just need to take control over the root window.
one of the screensavers is only a shell script, so thats hould be doable :D

A little late I know, but another idea for preventing fear of screen burn could be to shake the map every time a nuke/missile hits a target. You could probably further narrow that down so that it only shakes when a certain region is hit (perhaps the one your PC is set to).

Or make the screen scroll sideways, rotating around the world. (i.e. seamless map, so just spin it like a globe.)

Or perhaps you could just do the world a favour and turn your monitor off.
