I have 4 computers I can test Defcon on; one with a 2GHz CPU and 6600GT, one with a 2.5GHz CPU and a GeForce4, one with a 1.5GHz CPU and a Radeon 9200 or so, and a fairly new laptop!

But I can't, because I'm not in the alpha!

Approximately 20% of Luigi's posts on the Defcon boards are just him complaining that he wasn't picked for the alpha/beta.

That's some high percentage whine.

The fact you worked it out is even more disturbing. :P

I have 5 computers. Defcon has been tested on all five so far.

Most of my housemates have windows computers with wildly varying specs, and we have a wireless network. It's just begging! :(

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?

What Luigi fail to see is that most testers don't play the game either. The good testers try to crash the game and make sure it's a welltested product - not to mention that (as said before) alpha-testers have access to the non-playable version. This is most likely done to make sure people acctually try to test the stability and not only play - those who contribute can be elevated to beta testers.

A smart choice if you ask me. As always with open signup for testers there is always too many that just want to play the game early and don't take the job as a tester seriously.

And that problem is, those who want to play early for free blocks the real testers out. That's end of my complaint. The thing is, I have too much free time that I got bored chattering around on the forums around the world. Even Darwinians are praying at me now...... to leave them alone. :D

To Luigi: My comp is better and I didn't post even a word about it. And I won't until it's appropriate to do so. Not just anywhere like this.

Well, just to say, your comp is still fairly good compared to my other comrades. Some of them still use P3, GF2, SDRAM and stuffs like that.

I just sent an application today. Even being an Alpha tester is my honor.

Computer specs don't matter much. I think the Devs will be very pleased to have many kinds of computers and Internet connections. Because more variance means better scoped results... which Net connection is good?... voodoo not supported?... can't use 64bit? (which I hope this don't happen)... and lotsa more stuffs to test.

First you say this:

Then, you say this:

Your first statement is a direct contradiction of your second statement. Computer specs do matter. IV, as you say, should want the greatest variety of possible computer configurations. Thus, a few low end machines are a Good Thing(tm).

Hate to tell you this, but selection isn't based on hardware anymore due to various reasons.
