Objection your honor, multiple questions being asked!

But seriously, Defcon's been growing strong with a fanbase well into the thousands. Of course, logging on at 2 in the morning (depending on where you live of course) probably won't get you many people to play against.

Finally, I have a T1 line so I can't say anything about 64k.

There does seem to be a lack of players recently, servers used to fill up quite quickly but now takes a while sometimes, i play it quite often too around different times
How about a nice game of chess?

A game/chat lobby will greatly help.

At the moment, I've no patience for waiting around and just leave.

At least with a game lobby, players could talk to eachother for a bit before giving up on games.

patience. The DEFCON community is indeed just starting out.

You mean prior to actually joining a server, correct?

I agree, to an extent. I'd like to be able to chat around with others looking for a game, but a lot of times I'm too busy joining a game or just deciding to start my own to bother(I'd guess).

After joining, while waiting for others, it can still be a remarkably quiet experience.

I wonder if the metaserver approach would even allow a good lobby chat...

I actually get better connectivity when I join a game with a good speed host and no one else id connected to the router. But no I dont have a permanent 64k connection.

so you think the host should be bord the whole time. Start hosting your own severs and being killed at the start. which happens to host more then others.

I would but the last time I hosted a sever everyone lagged to oblivion

The one time I hosted and got nuked early on I just minimize the game and do something else... its not hard :)

Infact, everytime when I get killed early on when I play I do the same. Think of the other 5 people thats playing the game. Shutting down servers or disconnecting to me is signs that you feel insecure in your life.
