Humble apologies in advance...

Postby shinygerbil » Tue Oct 10, 2006 2:52 pm

...until I get a new router.

Twice today, I have been playing a decent 6v6 game of Defcon, and twice my router has decided it is a pile of shit and stopped working. I apologise deeply to those who may have been affected.

So, if I join a game, it is probably wise to expect me to drop; it's not out of my own choice, but because I have a Linksys WRK54G router (no wonder it's going cheap at Maplins.)

I have found great solace in four-letter words.

have you tried puttng the latest version of the firmware on? I had similar problems with my cheap netgear router until I upgraded the firmware.

Mind you a few months later the stupid thing decided to only do wireless about 5 feet so I got a refund on it & upgraded to a 3com one which I've had no trouble with.

Good luck,
worto.

Dude go buy another router...

I bought my "network everywhere" brand 4-port router about a year ago, from walmart, for only $50, and I have had flawless performance with it the whole time.

Sorry for all the people I dropped on. My internets seems to cut out at the worst possible time.

My router is a cheapo piece of crap, but it works fine. It's wired though, I suppose that makes a difference.

I've got the same problem. Good router, it's just that we have clearwire and we're technically outside their service range.

I think I know why your router was getting overloaded...
