Charged an extra 70 cents

Postby 03mustangdude » Fri Oct 06, 2006 4:44 am

Got charged 18.65 cents on cc statement :?

And if they charged with euros it would be 12 bux and something cents

so why the extra 70 cents, you can't charge sales tax if you don't directly ship anything so wtf? :?:

You could start by telling us what you bought and from where.

If you bought a copy from IV directly you will get a box copy of the game once they send it out :)

tell that to the govt. :) steam does it & most contries have some type of tax of goods (heck in the US you can get taxed by your local state for things you bought outside the state & already paid taxes on!)

Could be your bank charged a fee for converting currency... ? You weren't very specific in your post.

if the company you purchase from has an office in the state you live then you get charged tax.

Steam probably has servers in all states... so that would explain that.

Charged in GBP?

Postby KithKanan » Fri Oct 06, 2006 8:37 pm

It's possible you ended up with the selector in Pounds on final checkout? 10 GBP is over USD $18.50 right now.

I live in the US and my credit card company charged me a currency conversion fee when I bought Nero (the CD/DVD burning suite), as its home is in Germany, and its price is quoted in Euros. I bought Defcon through Steam, though.

i didn't get charged anything extra for the box, but when I was in Spain, I did get charged a fee by the bank for currency exchange fees.
