Hats off

Postby lazzymonk » Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:57 am

think about this for a moment. Defcon hasnt even been released a week yet and people are already changing it.

I cant think about any other game that has that sort community behind it.

Hats off to everyone

p.s i think i need sleep.

think about the potential to mod this game. its 2d and because its 2d its thus easier and more affordable to mod. to mod a 3d game it takes lots of time andexpensive programs, to mod 2d u need to know basic coding and some design skills. gotta love it.

i think thats part of why iv's games have such a following. if you dont like something about the game, chances are you can change it. and almost anyone can do it.

Well- all that's being done so far is changing the backround textures (which is done ingame) and playing with the unit icons (which is done by some modifying...)

But when it comes to changing the map and adding new units and things... that's real modding.

Map modding as we speak
2 weeks? That'd be Friday the 13th of October ... I'm sure we'll have seen at least one map mod by then :)

I love IV =)

Their games may not be the best graphics but they have the best damn gameplay.

Your abnormal then... and not in a bad way.

Reminds me of back to the future where the kids were in the bar, and Michael J fox was like OMG my favorite game, and the kids were like YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR HANDS?! Forget that!

=(

People take one look and pass, and miss out on hours and hours of fun.

Lies! Darwinia can be modded with a text editor! Creating 10,000 polygon shapes by hand is child's play!

That's true, none of my friends are like me when it comes to gaming (and computers in general, none of them are tech savvy in the slightest). They take one look at a game and if it is very visually pleasing they will go for it. The matter of gameplay is almost non-existant. I'd take most old arcade games over most modern games.

Alas, we digress from the topic at hand!

Talk about graphics anyone remember ZORK.

By far best graphics in the world .A 1980's game and the graphics blow away anything out there today. Nothing can touch the detail of the worlds you went through and that dark cave once you got that flash light to work. Not one game since has matched the graphics that this game had none. The trolls with thier big fangs where scary and ugly.

Of course the graphics where all in your mind as the game was all text. We used to sit and play for 12 hours straight with a group of people trying to figure out the game.
