i only modded in aus. If i wanted I could put cold war factions together, complete with the USSR having Cuba & europe/germany split. Here's some more:

the only city showing up is sydney. not sure why yet, haven't bothered to figure it out.

Care to explain the modding process? :P

I would love to play as Australia!

You extract your main.dat as a rar file. Look inside the newly create folders /Defcon/data/earth. Pick one of the files, say, africa.bmp and change it with an image editing program so it covers the area you want Africa to control. Note, changing the map files like this prevents you from playing with others. You changes will only work if playing AI.

That's awesome, guess I'll have to check that out.

Question: if I set up a LAN game with my friend, and we both use the same modified asset, will we be able to play or not?

That would work. If all people participating (even spectators) have the modified file all is good.

Would anyone be gracious enough to supply the modified south east asia template?
i really suck when it comes to photo shopping.

Also anyone got precise co-ords for Sydney? ( We need Perth and stuff... ) :P

We could Join America into one, and make Australia/Antartica one. :)

ALSO, can we pack the modifications back into main.dat? or do we leave it in data folder?

Just leave it in the folder as is. You could if you wanted pack it together but personally I always have problems when I do that (Defcon complains and crashes) so its just easier to leave it unpacked.

Indeed i simply kept it unpacked, packing it resulted in text file errors.

Do files in the data folder take priority to the main.dat files? or does it use one or the other...
Example, if i place only the modified files in the data file, will it look in main.dat for the extras?

EDIT: I checked this, and it takes the extracted files in priority, if you have unedited files, keep main.dat intact, and delete the unedited files in the data folder, it only takes the edited files then. :)

Im still waiting on the picture. :P ( I tried but the water was all distorted. ) :(

Yes to both of those questions.
