Perfect song for DEFCON?
I found this song a while ago, but I think it'll be awesome for DEFCON. Listen to it from this link: http://www.ihud.com/file.php?file=files/270906/1159325508/ra2blowitupfull.wav If you think you've got a better song to listen to while playing DEFCON, say the name and provide a link so everyone can hear it. Let's find the best song to nuke people by!

If you already posted in the other topic, why did you come back to this one?

I own a CD of the original soundtrack from The Hunt For Red October - I think that will be put to good use...
Great performance of russian choirs, by the way. The CD is sadly short (42 min) but Basil Poledouris is a great composer (Robocop, Starship Troopers...). I would recommend it to anybody that likes this style.

Well now, what happened is... ahm... one of our base commanders, he had a sort of... well, he went a little funny in the head... you know... just a little... funny. And, ah... he went and did a silly thing... -- Pres. Merkin Muffley

Red October Hymn - 4mb.
Holodna hmoora.
Eemruchnoh v'doosheh
Kak mohg znat ya shtoh tee oomriosh?
Do svidonia, byehreg rodnoy
Kak nam troodnag pridstahvit shtoh eto nyeh sohn.
Rodina, dom radnoy,
Do svidonia Rodina.
Ay. Avepakhod, avepakhod, nass val nahmarskaya zhdyot nyehdazh dyotsyah.
Nass zah vootmarskaya dah, ee preeboy!
Salute otsam ee nashem dedum
Zahvietum eekh fsigdah vierney.
Tepierre nichtoh, nee astanoivit,
Pabiedney shark, radnoy straney.
Tiy pliyvee, pliyvee bestrashna,
Gordest say viernykh marieye.
Revoluytziye nadezhdah sgoostk vierif sekh luydeye.
Tiy pliyvee, pliyvee bestrashna,
Gordest say viernykh marieye.
Revoluytziye nadezhdah sgoostk vierif sekh luydeye.
V'oktyabreh, v'oktyabreh,
Rahpar tu ium miy nashe pabiediy.
V'oktyabreh, v'oktyabreh,
Novie meeir fahli numnashy dehidiy.
And in English:
Cold, hard, empty.
Light that has left me,
How could I know that you would die?
Farewell again, our dear land.
So hard for us to imagine that it's real, and not a dream.
Motherland, native home,
Farewell, our Motherland.
Let's go; the sea is waiting for us.
The vastness of the sea is calling to us, and the tides!
Hail to our fathers and forefathers.
We are faithful to the covenant made with the past.
Now nothing can stop
Our Motherland's victorious march.
Sail on fearlessly,
Pride of the Northern Seas.
Hope of the Revolution, you are the burst of faith of the people.
Sail on fearlessly,
Pride of the Northern Seas.
Hope of the Revolution, you are the burst of faith of the people.
In October, in October,
We report our victories to you, our Revolution.
In October, in October,
And to the heritage left by you for us.

But fighting on all fronts will diffuse the knowledge of where the thread is, and that can't be a good thing, even for russians...
Yeah, I know I should stop posting.
Legend has it that the Pope at the time determined Allegri's 'Miserere Mei, Deus' to be so holy that mere mortals could not listen to it. The original copy was locked away and it was only performed for the pope and his esteemed company. Legend also has it that Mozart heard it being performed and transcribed it from memory, becoming the first 'music pirate.'
Here is one copy that I found.
Here is another copy.
This is my favorite version.
There are several incarnations floating around, but the final one linked is my favorite due to the GRAVITAS involved and how it is stretched out, and the high C in that last one is quite eerie and adds to the overall emotion. If millions are dying, the only song that conveys the proper emotions is this one.
