I THINK what he wants is the game to be updated with new stuff, which the pirated version will not have. Rarely do pirate copies get updated with later patches.

What on earth has this got to do with torrents?

The fact that if they update the game with new stuff, torrents of the (already old, from august 10th) version of the game are no longer any good... I think...

My point was: "Torrent" is not a synonym for "pirated copy". :P

I do hope they use torrent for distribution on the 29th, so I don't get a 9kb/s download. :(

And how the hell do you expect IV to procure payment from people using torrents?

The same way you normally do.

It IS fully possible to control who can and cannot download content from a torrent-tracker...

Besides, a downloaded copy without a key is a demo, right?

Through passwords, duh. Same way they control acces to the traditional download-server.

No, never via passwords. They can be shared.

Via sessions and cookies are usually how it goes.

The are other means of strangling a client to demo then having a separet compiled binary. And it helps when the player finally decides to buy the game (a key) too.

Not that I know, yet, how Introversion has decided do to with this game. The above still stands however.

They are already using Steam for this kind of distribution.
I have preloaded it at 460/500 KB/s :)

Don't talk to the Beta Testers as if we're just guessing. We know.

See that post made just before yours? You know, the one with my username attached to it, well... READ IT. You'll noticed that I already conceded to being wrong.

Steam is just one of the distribution mentions.
