True, but if you can it's better to buy straight from IV.

Well, buying boxed online also allows a digital download, so it's the best of both worlds. Also, if you lose the download, IV allows 3 downloads of a purchase, and Steam allows unlimited (within reason).

Yes, you can redownload the game multiple times on steam as long as you remember your steam Login, and also with steam you can download it on any pc that also has steam :)

Pre-Ordered through Steam, yesterday. Don't know why. Perhaps the little screenshots were attractive.

Finally preordered - steam here too, its nice to have the game already preloaded :D But i prosume theres still abit more to preload because theres only 3 files , 2 v.small and 1 larger one called sound.dat, so there must be other parts of the game that havent been downloaded yet...at a guess anyway. Also ordered Sin Episodes as something to do whilst im waiting for the game haha :) Just downloading that now.

You do realize that the entire game is quite small, right?

even in Darwinia, the largest file is Sounds.dat.
Now consider just how much less content Defcon has (map, a few sprites, a little music, a few sounds, bit of text)

You said you had 2 tiny files and then sounds.dat? That sounds about right to me.
