But I like the Idea. Perhaps you can change the person a bit so he is easier to identify. This Icon doesn't deal directly with the start of a nuke war, it shows consequences. And as "Everyone dies" I think it is quite appropriate. If you don't mind I'll copy it and use it for my copy of DEFCON

By all means, that's the whole idea :D

By the way, if anybody wants to have a go at drawing a better ducked-and-covered individual, please be my guest, I'll pop it in the icon. Humans are really not my strong point artistically... Probably because I don't identify well with them. Especially the matte-black cartoon silhouetted types.

It's 'Everybody dies', not 'Everyone dies'. The tagline of the forum is indeed wrong, I already posted that one.

And I feel the need to bump that discussion...

And NO, I'm not responding to the rest, it'll become somewhat confusing, I think...

How large are icons?

I can scale it in GIMP. (On 'cubic interpolation'.)

I'll tell you if it turns out disasterously.

Edit: Works well in 64x64. Okay in 48x48. Aweful in 32x32.

I like the globes, but I don't think that they would scale well. Also, they are basically just circles, which would blend in with every other icon out there. This is a problem with xyzyxx's icon as well, much as I like that icon.n I just adore the big red button, it has a unique profile, and it scales well.

I can scale anyone's image that needs it to the appropriate size, with very little lack of quality.

Edit: Loss, rather.

32x32 is the one to keep your eye on - the larger sizes always tend to look good, but it's surprisingly difficult to get anything meaningful out of a 32x32 space, particularly if you have an intricate or detailed design.

Unfortunately, Windows XP users are the dominant crowd in PC gaming (nowadays at least), so 32x32 is the desired icon size. Mac OS X and some Linux window managers go much bigger, though, so if you're going larger, you're aiming away from Windows.

I should note, too, that Windows Vista does 128x128 icons, but still in the traditional icons-on-the-desktop fashion, so I can imagine many users changing the icon sizes back to 32x32 to allow for the usual amount of items sitting on their desktop.

32x32 sized.

Not very creative, but size is a pain.

Not very creative or diverse, but it's what you've got.

If anyone wants one tweaked, just ask.

Edit: The Tic Tac Toe thing was kind of a joke, really.
If anyone liked it, I made a 32x32 version.
