I've found this :
https://www.jeuxlinux.fr/a126-Defcon.html

It explains how to download , install and run ....

But I get an error with libGL.so.1 ....

Code: Select all

gwen@port01:/opt/defcon-v1.42$ ./defcon
./lib/defcon.bin.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I already have this version and already get the same error ... I previously tried to copy my libGL.so.1 in defcon directory and got another error :

Code: Select all

gwen@port01:~/Documents/Jeux/defcon/defcon-v1.42$ ./defcon
./lib/defcon.bin.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

My previous system was 32bits and the one I use now is 64bits ... does anyone knows if there's a 64bits version of defcon or if I must try to make my 64bits system sometimes use 32bits libraries ?
Installing Steam seems to have some related issues with 32 and 64 libs ... it also seems to be painfull to install ... :S ...

Yes, it exists. In the Wayback Machine. It probably doesn't exist for 1.42 though.

Blame Introversion Software for taking down a lot of stuff, and now almost not caring about anything other than Steam.

Personally, I'd never install Steam. Their rootkit-like VAC is evil enough, but I dislike the idea of digital "licenses" in general. Seeing how many games use it regardless, it feels like it is a cancer on gamedev.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer ... while I quite agree with you i finally installed steam just for that game ..... true that introversion shouldn't focus on steam this way ...
Anyway, I can play now.

C ya ;)

It is sad. Also, there is unfair ban evasion advantage in the Steam version, as it gets the authentication key reissued each month, while otherwise the key is static forever, and DedCon supports banning by the authentication key ID.
