2dBoy (world of goo) did a pay as you want type thing, IV should do that. Sure, a shit ton of people would play only 0.01 or something but a much better idea than them just letting it for free (or at least a more appealing idea to IV) Also if they are going to re-release it why would they offer this...

Yeah I've never heard of Plain Sight until now. So the open beta is Tuesday when their offices open. At first I thought you had to pay to play the beta but it doesn't seem like it, as the store page is down.

Seems like a big sale on Impulse this weekend. Highlights seem to be Demigod at 20$, Sins of a Solar Empire also at 20$, World of Goo at 10$, Hearts of Iron 1+2+3+expansions for 50$ That would be the Sins of a Solar Empire Bundle which includes Entrenchment.
