It is quite normal. Sometimes when you get caught, you pay a fine. Most of the time when you get caught, the game is over. Create a new user, and start over again. You will probably do that quite a bit until you get the hang of things.

Have you tried connecting to the terminal marked "Valid Subnet"? You should be able to unlock the lock from there. If you have already unlocked the lock, have you tried reprobing it? The prober can not scan past locked locks, hence you must unlock first, then probe.

If I remember correctly, the trick is to move on the LAN as the admin move so you don't get caught. In your case, you may only have a fraction of a second to switch from the mainframe to the modem once the admin has moved on the mainframe to not get caught. This. It's doable, just very, very hard.
