If you are on linux, your zip handler may be old. I've had a similar problem with many of the zipped mods. I usually use a console file browser called midnight commander -- a clone of the venerable norton commander from DOS days. The version I have can dive into rar files no prob, but some newer zip...

OK! If you know any Python, you might want to look at the following two pages: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Advanced_Tutorials/Python_Scripting/Export_scripts http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Advanced_Tutorials/Python_Scripting/Import_scripts Writing a ver...

Sure! I'll put something together. But most (if not all) of the info is a few posts back. The one about the DEC .off format. Blender can both export and import it. And it is the simplest file format I've ever seen. The only thing you'd have to check for in the .off --> .shp direction would be for &q...

OK uhm, is that going to result in; 0: 0 1: 1 2: 2 or 0:0 2:1 1:2 [ ... ] That should fix the issue... probably! You're right! I'm missing a lookup with my cheap sort! It did seem too good to be true, but that's what hapens when I don't do stuff out longhand on paper... like I just did, and realize...

Thanks! Until someone figures out the vertex remapping in shape files, there is a round-about way to get Darwinia .shp fragments into Blender. You can use a DEC .off file to import just the vertices / positions, and then you can rebuild the faces by hand. For most Darwinia shapes this is pretty simp...

(sorry, xander, I've make a blog of this thread) ...In order to paste a .shp file's coordinate list (Positions) into a DEC .off file, they must first be reordered so the vertices are in numerical order. At first this seemed straightforward. But it isn't. I wrongly imagined that the Vertices list was...

...It turns out Darwinia is perfectly happy with either whitespace or comma delimiters in shape files. This applies to both coordinate lists and triangle lists (and probably everything, although I haven't checked). Trailing commas are OK too. So if you get data out of Blender or some other modelling...

...Unfortunately Blender can't re-import Softimage XSI files. So the above export method is a one way street. However there is another very simple file format which Blender can both export and import: DEC Object File Format (.off). There are a few caveats, but this format would make a good basis for...

Re: Rocket Never Goes Online
...xander... erm... xander? I'm going to assume that xander has something to say... eyra ... there's no need. My original question to xander was based on my own foolishness. The case is solved as far as I'm concerned. ...Unless you or anyone else want to talk about what the EscapeRocket is capable ...

Rocket Never Goes Online
EDIT: forget about it! I screwed up. The "launchpad_victory.txt" string IS in my executable -- I just don't know how to use my file viewer (shame: I left the "backwards" option on when I tried to search the 1.4.0b9 executable... from the beginning!) About the EscapeRocket and the...

Shape Files: Import & Export Blender Meshes
Hi all, I've been busy hacking all the shape files in Darwinia. (Well, except for the trunkports and goddishes and a few other venerable and iconic things.) I've built most of my models from the fragments in the original game models. Mix-n-match & scale. Most of my work has been done using sprea...

Can't top MrBunsy for grammar responses...
