Re: Denouncing so called admins (Gestapo)
Can all server owners please revoke all additional admin rights on servers they own please. This is getting to be beyond a joke now - if these idiots want to admin a DEFCON server let it be there own so I can avoid it. SFCON, QUAKE and to a lesser extent Group 6 - its killing the game in my opinion...

Re: Awesome matches of the past.
Just watched the first match. Pretty brutal from yellow. Thanks for putting the link up again sen. I always remember Mike as unbeatable but it appears he is just v v v good ;) Yeah, it was merciless. There isn't anyone around nowadays who plays with that classic Ace "all in" style. It gue...

Re: Nuke School: Pop Quiz
Yeah I should have stayed closed. Still it was funny and we got away with it, so whatever. Made it an unnecessarily close game though. If NC had hustled down and turned the tide in the Indian, or if there had been serious anti-sub defense in the Atlantic, there's a pretty good chance it would have b...

Re: Shot Destroy Probability
Well, it turns out that CVs and BSs have 3 hitpoints, planes, nukes and subs have 1. Each gunfire has a probability of hit (see list below). If missile hits, it decreases HP by 1. HP do not regenerate over time. Every decent player knows this. They may not think they know it, but they can certainly...

Re: sfcon ban thread
My suggestion, if you see someone rage quitting, tell them the very next time you see them that they will be banned if you see them rage quit again. Then ban them on the second offense. People that are egregiously abusing other players, the mechanics of the game (rage slowing, land ships, space bom...

Re: The Bomber Stream
Regarding synchronized silo launches: 1. In my good old times I had presets of time codes to launch my nukes from silos. But it's a lot of work. 2. For east vs west and vice versa you can use the 45s rule. Place all silos in a horizontal line and launch first nuke from the first silo at 0s. Launch ...

Re:
"bor" is to purposely make the game boring? I wouldn't mind a little clarification with that too actually. Do people consider taking some time late in the game to restock fighters and cycle through spare airbase nukes (with speed at 10x or 20x) BOR? Or is it when someone intentionally str...

Re: I am a cheater
I play ONLY against the AI so I never have to worry about the cheat thing. People keep telling me "you don't know what you are missing". Yeah well, I don't need to know. I enjoy the heck out of the game without ever making human contact. And I don't miss it at all. :D As far the human con...

The US has over-extended its military operations around the globe. Introducing a new front in Syria would be disastrous for our economy and standing in the world's eyes. Air strikes and cruise missiles are about all the US can really afford to do in Syria right now. And only 9 percent of Americans ...

And while there's room to argue over ethnic jokes, nationalist teasing, etc., this form of discrimination does not rise to the level of the institutionalized white supremacy in the United States that lasted long after 1865 (and forms of which still persist). You can tell me the best way to break a ...

I used the Humble Bundle stream myself to find a Multiwinia game. Let me moan first. In contrast to Defcon you can't spectate games and you can't browse the server list while waiting in a lobby. To me it feels like a terrible itching at a unreachable spot or like the try to stop smoking. HORRIBLE A...

Screenshot Issue
I just switched over to stand-alone Defcon and I'm having a problem with taking screenshots. Pressing 'p' causes the program to crash with the following error:
Assertion failed : '_out'
..\..\contrib\SystemIV\lib\resource\bitmap.cpp
line number 331
Any ideas? I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.

If you have Windows 7, did you try right-clicking Defcon and 'run as adminstrator' as xander suggested? This should work as it will allow Defcon to make changes (thus creating the proper authkey text file for next time). Just adding to this, if for some reason you need to manually create the authke...
