Indeed, it would seem that removing it would be sensible if he wants to reinstall from scratch.

I think it also creates a folder in your home directory named ".uplink".

I'm trying to remember where Uplink installs under linux, it's been a while. It may be in ~/.uplink but I'm not certain.

A forum search will probably reveal the answer.
