In which case the best course of action is to delete the current game files, and redownload the latest version. It's entirely possible that it got corrupted somehow in the download or somesuch. If you have an anti-virus it might be worth turning that off (temporarily) as well, as sometimes the game ...

What he's saying is that you should back up the save files, and then delete the entire Introversion folder which will cause the game to recreate everything as if it were the very first time it is played.
