already turrets, which don't add much of a defensive bonus to the MW's but a huge offensive bonus, Stop and think about this. Offensive means going there and taking. Defensive means staying here and keeping. Turrets are Defensive, since they do not move. They are definitive area-control weapons bec...

Because there are a lot more casual games that are better then MW,

But how many of those casual games are in the real-time strategy category?

but no hardcore rts is better then MW.

Then why degrade it by adding in 'hardcore' stuff?

...Perhaps my first idea was a little too complex. I'm still trying to figure out the GGT... but for the moment maybe I should set aside the continent idea and propose something a little simpler; http://home.comcast.net/~norsehound/MWM-CraterIsleSm.png And the height map. Crater Isle I can't seem to...

How does a world conquest map have anything to do with the weather? The world conquest map is an interesting idea, but it does take away from the 'anywhere, anytime' feeling that Multiwinia has now. Making a world map would mean pigeon-holing the scope of the war and the strength of the various fact...

but without IV supporting those things right now that's pretty much a dead end, and the lack of support rubs off on me and makes me disinterested too. That's the way all/most community projects for a gaming company go, though. I once did a map for the Homeworld universe for Relic (on their forums, ...

What would bunkers do that turrets couldn't do better? Would you sacrifice the range of guns from protection against laser fire and explosives? Besides, how would bunkers be effective against armor? And if a Bunker was made, how could you get enemy Multiwinians out of it? Why not just put two of the...

If we're whining about neglected games, how about Uplink? Introversion's first game hasn't been updated in....how long? All I could ask for is the map editor at this point, because that's all I can see in being a next step to 'completing' multiwinia. There might be additional powerups or a map or tw...

No, but... no. One of the reasons I love Multiwinia is, because unlike every other Real-Time Strategy game out there, there is no base building . No waiting for ten minutes before you have an army to fight the enemy. No loosing to an opponent who has five more harvesters than you do. No loosing imme...

I pre-ordered my game because I wanted to support Introversion, support Dar/Multiwinia, and get the foamwinians that came with the box. I didn't mind paying more for what I got. But I'd still expect the map editor to be free, unless I was getting some unusual super application to the map editor that...

ugh, I thought the poll said 'do you want the map editor' and said yes on the poll. Move one vote please. Charging for the map editor would just mean less players would buy it, since there are roundabout ways now to make maps. It would only prevent the mapping community from growing and Multiwinia w...

I asked about the release of the Map editor and was told that it'll probably come after Darwinia+ is released. The thinking I guess is that D+ will bring onboard new players, while a Multiwinia patch and the new Map editor will help keep those hooked to stay. But like you I wonder sometimes if Intro...

I was under the impression that the whole map had to be rendered with one image... is it possible to combine several island-images together on one map?

If that's the case, I can set about re-doing this to give the map some justice...

I think I'm also missing Randomizer too, since it could put you in a bad place at the beginning of the game. Might chalk that under 'enemy multiwinians' though.

How big of a heightmap would be needed, 64x64px? As I reflect on it, I guess I wouldn't want a map TOO big, since most of the time would be eaten up by spreading out and grabbing spawn points unopposed other than fighting. http://home.comcast.net/~norsehound/MultiwiniaMapTeeny.png Is this any better?

Well, this is a 64x64px compression of the heightmap;

Image

I tried to replace it with a 63px one, but my filehost isn't cooperating for some reason. Is 63x63 the largest drawing capable for a map?
