i'm in a similar situation to pinback - i used to play a lot a while back, then i spent a year playing bf2 until getting sick of the hackers and jet whores... :evil: so i came back to defcon last week, and the server browser seems just a bit quieter than it used to be, but not by a great deal, imho....

going back to the time period the game is set in, it's obvious: COLD WAR! look at the maps and country boundaries...but of course it's 'just' a game, and certain liberties were taken... also, battleships have gone out of fashion these days, no navy uses them any more - various classes of much smalle...

crikey - they got to be 25 years old! have you ever tried loading Elite from one of those big floppy disks? (they were floppy then lol :) )

got to agree with xander here...

...mostly...

....BUT some type of waypoint system for directing bombers would be handy sometimes

it's sort of queueing orders, but not really timers - move here, then more here, thus avoiding enemy radar, battleships etc

i'm forty - a mature gamer - i used to sneak into the school computer lab to play Elite on BBC computers! :D who remembers Elite here?? - quite possibly the best computer game of all time... 8) who remembers BBC computers?...aah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be... :lol: but next year i won't have...

Forums are most useful when there aren't many, many topics that all say the same thing. This makes searches more effective. Posting the same strategies that have been posted before over and over again does nothing to reduce the signal to noise ratio. xander listen to the man... if only more people ...
