Anyone wanna feel old? Just remember that when the OJ Simpson Trial was airing, Yoshi was a fetus/newborn.

I dunno man. I watched the recording, and it looked to me like he was scouting ahead with his fighters like any good player would. The spectator Defective could've just been an innocent bystander here. But, let's keep an eye on him. If there's a high correlation between non-responsive spectators and...

We have been blowing up the world on a regular basis for years now. There is nobody who comes close to our level of destruction and mayhem. We kill billions upon billions of innocent cats on a daily basis, we commit unspeakable crimes against fish and lobster. I once forced a toddler to listen to D...

Just a suggestion, take it or leave it. But next time you play EU vs USSR, put your silos further back from the border. That will delay and possibly prevent them from being spotted by enemy radar and scouting fighters.

I will give you the best advice for noobs, set your screensaver to 1 minute, and if it comes on it means you are not working hard enough. Seriously tho, I will post some of my tricks in your strategic forum post later on, maybe it will help a few players. That's actually damn good advice. Thanks.

Even if I'm getting pasted, I see no reason to rage quit. Usually if you're getting pasted, and stick around, you can learn a thing or two. Ask questions, laugh at yourself. It is, after all, just a game. And the people that play this game regularly are genuinely decent folk. Mogwai, ShadowStorm and...

I just wanna say that I beat Tom the other day, but I got very, very lucky. I kind of baited him into becoming overly aggressive, and he spent too many nukes trying to chase down my navy.

There are some variations of chess out there that rely on chance when capturing. But it seems the more popular chess variants rely on chance for the initial positions of the pieces.

Anyway, sorry for going so far off topic there.

Ace, because chess isn't dynamic enough. You like to move stuff around in a quick reaction to other player's movements (correct me if I'm wrong on that count). While chess shares some of those elements with Defcon, it's very much a static game now, with set moves and countermoves. A 14 year old kid ...

Having watched you play Defcon from time to time Ace, I'd think you'd be too bored with chess to play competitively. But if you ever want to set up a game, I'd be happy to.

This could very well be a Dunning-Kruger Effect, in so far as I think I suck at this game. I think I'll take you up on that offer Schub. :)

Also, not to pile on or be offensive, but I'm pretty sure it was (MOR) that beat me once without using his silos. That was disheartening.

And I think, every average player could beat be me in an unfair setup. If the unfair setup means you aren't allowed to place silos, then yes. Seriously, I'm an average player. The guys and gals that have been playing this game competitively for a few years now are light years ahead of guys like me.

Putting subs into active is not a bad idea. Subs are pretty tough when submerged, they can do a lot of damage to an enemy fleet. Especially after you've launched your birds, you should put them in active mode and go hunting. For what it's worth I just played smokey13 (nice guy) and his active subs t...

Another great story from the Cold War surrounds the events leading up to Able Archer 83 . The Soviets had recently shot down KAL 007 due to a case of pilot error and mistaken identity, and NATO was building up for a war game a few months later. Soviet intelligence was shitting its pants in the spotl...
