Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

hmm... That lies extremely close to the line between reasonable and highly naive. However without knowing the American system, it's hard for me to decide. So, just for the sake of disclosure, here are the immediate problems I would expect of the system: - It assumes the only disruption contact hours...

Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

Out of genuine curiosity xander, when assigning coursework, do you guys have into account the students workload on the other courses they are likely to be taking?

Portugal.

For the record, I pay about 1000€ a year in tuition fees. Conversely I won 980€ a month for the year I was working.

Public educational system. The one year of work I did before deciding to go back to college is more than enough to pay the cost of a second degree. I have no debt whatsoever.

Re: Let's go.........RANDOM!

Today my teachers made it quite clear how few fucks they give... as if it wasn't obvious enough. *sigh* It's sad really, I went back to college to try and learn something, but the longer I spend there the more convinced I am no-one is there to try and teach us, and I would learn a lot more by stayin...

Re: Guidance, making my next game. 'Tycoon'

so do your best to create your own engine That's a hugely naive suggestion. Game engines are hugely complex endevours, even simple ones. You should always look into existing engines before setting out to do your own. This is particularly true in this day and age where cheap easy to use engines are ...

Re: Guidance, making my next game. 'Tycoon'

Ah I was looking at the Unity engine, couldn't see how good it would be to make a 2D game. There are multiple 2D games made on unity, and I've personally worked on 2D game prototypes made with it. As a cheap easy to use engine, Unity is hugely versatile. They are making native 2D tools however, tho...

Re: And you thought Subversion was dead...

You mention Incognita.. for a brief moment I was considering buying that game.. Tell me, just how good is it?! ' It's still in alpha right now, so it's still very bare bones (one randomly generated level, no goals other than getting to the exit, preset agents). I absolutely love it though. Because ...

Re: And you thought Subversion was dead...

That game looks remarkably like Monaco with hints of Gunpoint.

Either way, Incognita it's where it's at.

Re: Games for 2009... And BEYOND!

Incognita is now accepting pre-orders with alpha access.

The alpha is a bit bare bones, but really really good.

Think of it like turn-based subversion without the massive overengineering.

Re: Modern Movie Graphics Design/Choreography

What do you mean by "deteriorated"? Have they changed? Certainly. Have they changed for the worse? Subjective, but I would say no. Have they become less distinct? Maybe, but arguable - there are plenty of visually distinct movies still being made, and I'm sure there are plenty of old movie...

Actually, he being alive denied me access to the top half of the map. My gunner would probably have gone top (and likely lived) if he had died.

Anyway, gg.

My game with Jordy:

I made a lot of mistakes, partly due to being out of practice, but mostly because I assumed the game to be better designed :P
There were far too many things that went poorly because I (wrongly) expected the game to deal with things differently.

So, yeah, I'm pretty much guaranteed to lose now, even though I could easily have won. And all because I wanted to play safe and try to take out a guy with a quick shot and move on. Instead the fucker stutters in place as the other waves in and out of view which keeps him just barely in rocket range...
