You can, but deleting a wall also deletes the foundation under it, and you can't rebuild the foundation unless you're extending the area at least large enough to put another door in it again. I can confirm this one. Laying water pipes and/or electric cable down, noticing that the workers have stopped but the lights are still off/toilet still not usable, realising 1 or 2 pieces of cable or piping haven't been laid.
