I think the movie Zulu fairly accurately portrays why hand-to-hand weapons are much better than just a rifle with a bayonet. Even having to stop and reload can get you killed. As to the high pitched whine - I don't get it on my PC, but sound cards have a tendency to do that kind of shit. Especially ...

What kind of prison feeds it's inmates at 1am. This is ridiculous, I try and have a nap and now all 3 of my my eggs are cold! They didn't even make then runny.

I wonder if MeatNit found a cow... that would kind of explain the noise... Cows growl right?

Intriguing thought, but I just tried to run my version of the game and had exactly the same issue. Try downloading and playing Alpha 3, rather than Alpha 4 - see if that makes a difference. My version of Alpha 3 ran fine, but 4 went a bit haywire for half an hour or so and then worked randomly after...

Ooh, that's definitely good...

In preferences, change the FirstTime line to read False, and see if that helps force it through into the game.

Also - repost your debug, as it's possible that it will throw an actual error up saying what went wrong

Would they notice?

I liked it, although it seemed almost as if you were bored until about halfway through :P Largely the same as the Eurogamer talk, if you've watched it - but there were a few differences - and obviously the questions at the end were different. Especially liked the sound of Chris' ideas of where we'll...

Apologies for the confusion, I forgot that Windows XP was slightly different in it's folder structure. Two things you can do to help you out. The first of which is to change your preferences file so that the game opens in windowed mode. This won't fix anything, but when you open it later on to see i...

oh, that would be why. No - open up a general files and folders window as if you were looking through your C drive, rather than Internet Explorer (it's called Windows Explorer, but I can see where it caused the confusion) Try the LocalAppData thing THERE, and it should work. If not, follow the folde...

That might be important, or it might just be that we did something wrong :P Just to be sure go here: C:\Users\{YourUser}\AppData\Local\Introversion\Prison Architect And tell us what's there. It should have a folder structure that looks like the following: [Campaign] [saves] debug.txt prefe...

You're right, but I disagree. Whilst it's important to note bug reports, discuss features and the like, it's also important to point out that there's no way that they will be looked at for quite some time. Certainly when people get stroppy and demand that something be fixed immediately because "...

By all means upload your prison and we'll look at what's causing the issue. In truth, that's the easiest way to work out what it is that's going on without having to run through a list of 10 different possibilities. Check out http://www.prison-exchange.com and throw the link back here so we can down...

Currently that's just how this works. In theory the prisoner's pathfinding should just logically limit them to one area (I'm hungry, canteenA is 10 steps, canteenB is 100 steps) however prisoners get it in their heads to walk across to the other edge of the map if there's a toilet there for some rea...

Ok, well the best thing you can do right now is to show us what is within the debug file of the game. This will give us some form of idea what's going wrong with the game / on your computer. If you open up a standard windows explorer window copy paste the following into the address bar (or in the &q...

I don't know, looks kind of fair to me. I think the key thing is to make sure you've got your guns prior to the outbreak. There's nothing more awkward than needing to go out into a zombie apocalypse to buy yourself a sniper rifle because you weren't prepared. Obviously the gun thing is pretty useful...
