I sit in the pre-match server when I have time for a game, but nothing ever comes of it. There was three people in the server recently, including myself, but that's the closest I've ever got to a game.

Maybe he means epic like... big orchestral piece. Massive, huge, symphonyetic. An "epic" in literature typically means a novel that covers the lifetime of the protagonist, but I don't think he means it that way.
