Enough about Cairo (*) (**) already  The main point is that binary (you achieve them or you don't) victory conditions won't work in a multiplayer timed game like DEFCON (or soccer, for that matter). Otherwise multiple people or even no-one could win. One way of addressing that would be to assi...

Exactly my point. If Africa has to defend Cairo to win, you are severely unbalancing the different nations. In the default scoring mode, defence is not so much an issue - do we want to see more turtling? Sorry Chimaera...I misunderstood your first post... ...makes sense now. I think I unders...

Ranges
I agree, Peace's setup is about as good a defensive line as you could get. (although it seems a bit vulnerable sitting in the middle of the pacific like that  I measured the ranges of different ships and aircraft the other day, and the following is a range-based setup which should be able to c...

At the risk of looking foolish, I saw it done the other day. A whole bunch of red sub nukes were aimed mid-ocean to take out a blue carrier group. Did the trick reasonably well too. You can see the radiation in the north atlantic in this endgame shot ... http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/812/banana...

Diplomacy - two winners ?!
Now that I have belatedly worked out how to host screenshots (duh!) I might as well write a debrief on one. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/812/bananakegerpw3.th.jpg EDIT: Here is Keger's end-game shot (see below!) http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3292/screenshot2007061602ty5.th.png [/quote] I ...

victory timer delay
Well I'm using Mac 1.42 but as there's no Mac troubleshooting forum, here goes ... I just hosted a 6p diplomacy game - at the end Keger tried a cunning backstab on the two leading players in the alliance. Fortunately for me the victory timer ended with me on 71 and keger on 70. But Keger's victory t...

Edit 2: Just specifically tested for friendly fire and couldn't get it to happen. I think it just boils down to proximity sinking, not friendly fire. That's what my test came up with too. And I also used Team Switching for good instead of evil  How useful is the effect? Not sure. It could ...

I've noticed this when I fleet 1-2 carriers with 1-2 pinging subs. If the subs spot anything, the carriers automatically switch to antisub mode. More useful than not, I think. Particularly since to a casual observer, it looks like it is just the carriers pinging. Except that I just broadcast that I...

I notice when you have a mixed fleet and subs either pop up next to you or start pinging, all the carriers will turn to anti sub mode. But if your anti sub carrier starts finding subs in passive mode, the others will not change from their current state. I can imagine this being a good thing in some...
