I believe that simplicity in games is a beautiful thing. As a board game designer myself, I am a fervent believer in the merits of the KISS philosophy - and that's not counting the many many problems that overcomplexity can cause. In my opinion, DEFCON is much better suited for being simplistic. If ...

I want to play on the space shuttle.

In Defcon, you annialate cities with nuclear weapons and get points for the casualties caused. In Diplomacy, the stag...

From what I've seen, I doubt moving units around en masse is really that necessary even in the faster games. The units don't appear to move that quickly.

I'd love to bomb London, being a Brit myself, but I guess seeing it in DEFCON's graphics lacks some of the impact.

I'm guessing that a competant Russian player could keep a strong Europe under wraps, or else Europe would likely become the major target. Imbalances in starting position can often be compensated for in diplomactic relations emergant from gameplay - a strong power is more likely to get attacked than ...

Personally, I don't know whether I'd want my ass handed to me the first time I play by real people. At least the computer won't judge you for being a clueless newbie. So I'll be sticking with singleplayer until I feel confident that I can handle myself against real people. Either that or just play i...
