the lack of ground forces in defcon is striking. joshua considered them even in his GTW scenarios. I think ground troops would muddle the focus of the game. The thing to keep in mind is that DEFCON will not be HARPOON---all the units are generalized. Yes, battleships were already dwindling to extinction even during the Vietnam era, but I believe DEFCON uses the label "battleship" just as a catch-all term to describe a warship capable of offens...
