I cant figure out this story. It just gets boring. I know that you won't fix this, but on 'discovery' I cant seem to find the squad when I try to cheat with the map editor. You may not know that if I don't cheat... well, i'm pretty much a quitter. Did you read the PDF file that comes with the mod? ...

Re: Call for Uplink Beta Testers
We're currently doing a round of maintenance and bug-fixing to Uplink. We've already been testing a patch to the full game, but we think it would be helpful to widen the net to people who have never played Uplink before. If you would be interested in helping to test Uplink, especially if you have n...

Rare anti-gravity Triffid eggs
I've only noticed this in multiple levels levels of the Insurrection mod, but it doesn't seem to be something a modder could influence. There have been times that a Triffid will toss an "egg" (what's the right word for that red blob?) into the water, usually in its death throes. At least t...

PowerBook framerate in Sanctuary
I tried Sanctuary on my 1.5GHz G4 PB, with 1G RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700/64M VRAM. I was getting 8-9 FPS, and it was noticeably choppy.

Re: Sanctuary framerate
--==<snip>==-- Well, there is your problem. You are exploiting a bug in the game that allows squads to cross the water, thus missing out on pieces of the plot. Don't use squads. You are not meant to be able to get squads from one island to another. Try it without squads. xander Silly me. I thought ...

Re: Sanctuary framerate
Also, I kept an eye open for Dr S's speech which was supposed to tell me what to do and not do in Annihilation. It wasn't there. I scrolled back through the text. There was nothing significant between the time Dr G talked about the "Final Solution," saying, "we have little enough tim...

Sanctuary framerate
Hi xander, I just got back to Sanctuary, and checked the framerates. After the cutscene (I exited early) I was getting 44-46 FPS. High in the sky, 75 FPS. Back at normal altitude, I framed the entire inner island, so that all the animation was visible: 26-27 FPS. In actual gameplay situations (i.e.,...

Re: Finished Insurrection. WOW!!!
First, "overly zealous tech reporter?" Darwinia is like a theme park, I bought my ticket, and Dr S said he would normally have given me a tour. Hey man, I saved a virtual world ! I don't deserve to be dissed like that! ;) Meh. As I see it, the player character in the original game is diff...

Thanks ShepFan, did the log file include the OS X Crashreport too? Sometimes that has more accurate backtrace information. The info so far appears to indicate a problem with animating a one of the centipede creatures -- was one involved? Hi John, I sent the whole blackbox.txt file. I'll check Conso...

The program isn't really that complicated that it couldn't just be re-written on another system/in another language. Also, the current code stores the settings in the Windows registry (the 'remember' option'), so that whole part would need to be re-thought out anyways. If anyone has RealBASIC for M...
