Since someone mentioned StarForce, I felt I just had to throw in my angry opinion: :? StarForce is a *CENSORED* Copy Prevention sceme. It demands to run as a system driver with access to absolutely every part of your computer, overriding the normal workflow of CD-ROMS, DVD-drives and other things. ...

Actually Uplink DOES require steam to be running (or at least, last time I checked, the one steam distributes does), Darwinia is independant because its fresh coding. I was taking a guess about Uplink.. nearly right. Or, in other words, as copy protection goes, it's a hell of a lot better than Star...

Not if it's anything like Darwinia and aparently Uplink are.

The conclusion (if there was one) from this thread was that Defcon will be like the others.

I doubt I could even stay awake that long, but I might be interested in trying anyway, depending on when defcon is actually released.

I was wondering about voicing this question myself. My fear is that if Defcon is released through steam, we'll have to use steam to play online, which in my opinion would suck a bit. On The Beach + Hello

I'm new to these forums, but ever since a friend of mine told me about Defcon I'd been mulling over an idea reguarding Nevil Shute's book, On The Beach and was curious about if it'd be possible or what you guys thought of it. On The Beach was written during the 50s about WW3, the northern hemisphere...
