Already using it

Hi, I'm already using that version, not sure if the slowdowns could be caused by Win/Mac users having problems at the other end? Or does the final version include yet more fixes?

You can turn off cease fire and destroy allied silos, airbases etc. by saying "wow, look at the sea battle on the other side of the world".

Backstab first, launch last.

@neo etc. Hi - I still don't think anything could be called 'illegal' if a game politely said "you are hosting, so the program will not exit unless you force it to from te system tray, you mean old killjoy". Then the code could be as simple as auto-quitting when the final player has left a...

@monty, I already suggested that as a measure, but why no preclude Defcon having 2 active network connections on one PC, or disable by default...? I would hope a future patch might introduce the ability to save options as profiles (fairly commonplace since Worms 2 :) ) to save time and hassle. Or, e...

Host as spectator / prevent spectating in 2nd process

Just a couple of thoughts... Would anyone think it useful to be able to host as a spectator? I personally wouldn't bother, but it could be an optional donation of bandwidth and stability since so many hosts end games that turn against them. If (when?) the much requested DC screensaver surfaces, it c...

I would rather see a patch to Defcon that - by default - forces the host's app to run the game as a background process until it is completed, so they can drop just like anyone else when they get whiney about not winning. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to implement? Even if it meant that the "qu...

Another Linux user here, plus Mac user on a low-end (= old, 500MHz, RAM upgraded to 640MB) iBook if anyone wants testing for a worst-case scenario!

I totally disagree with all this "fair play" rambling - all games should be played TO WIN. That is how they are meant to be played. If a feature or exploitable glitch is there for now, don't complain that someone actually dared use it. Now I'm not an untrustworthy or evil person, but in De...

Backstabbing the CPU, or how to leave a human/AI alliance

I have noticed something odd (=dumb?) about the CPUs. And some humans :) If you are allied, and you quietly un-tick the Cease Fire box in Aliiances, you can happily target installations and send your subs against battleships. The odd part is that you can do this to an allied CPU player all day witho...

i've preordered it already (9095) is it wrong for me to sample the delights of these warez?

Well your order number is attached to your home address, so I wouldn't... plus, as with anything, if you create demand then people create a supply. Just wait a week, then we can blow each other up legally.

Preorder count guesstimate?

I though some of you might be interested in a thread for some basic maths... or it might be just me being dull. I have preordered 2 copies from IV: Sep 14, 2006 7:28 PM - order 714x Sep 19, 2006 8:40 PM - order 870x So it looks like that's averaging over 300 preorders per day! Of course, order numbe...

Gravity Kills did that too, and Bjork released a whole load of remixes done by fans - not sure if we should really rate IV's composers up there though :) It would be interesting to see if the small samples start cropping up as sound effects on Flash sites etc., there will be thousands of us doing ou...
