How about after 30 minutes of game play take just a squad to the third island and see if it happenes. Make sure you have no darwinians or engineers, try to eliminate different factors each time you try it. This will make it easier for them to track down the problem.

The 'Refined :0' amount seems to show through all the landscape but not through any of the buildings.

It happens with most if not all objects on the level.

What was similar about both times

e.g
playing both games for same amount of time
same number of squads
same number of grenades, rockets airstrikes going on

Even the smallest and most unlikely of things could cause it, do you remember?

How about installing windows xp service pack 1, it's easy to uninstall. You may not like it but if that gets it to work then I personally think it's worth the sacrifice.
