Before i received Mr. Goldfish's sage advice, i had gathered from the various posts that have been made on this subject that what you had to do was: -download the mod -plop the full folder (which includes readmes, etc) into library/application support/darwinia/mods -made any other changes specified...

I dislike PDF because; it's a sod to actually copy/paste anything out of it In Acrobat, Press V to get into text select mode. Which will let you select and copy text. Press H to get back into hand mode, which will let you move around with the mouse. Its annoying only in that its unconventional. On ...

Isn't it really obvious why steam is evil? HL2 is the only singleplayer game I know of, that requires you to be online to play it. It requires you to go online only once. Unfotunately, it can take several hours to get everything fully updated on a slow connection, but once you have authentication y...

Use a spirit spawner - it looks like a regular reciever link but spontaneously generates souls and passes them to the next link in the chain. I suppose you could do this with one links across across the entire map and hide the actual links inside terrain or another structure if thats the effect your...

The name of the folder dosen't matter, but should normaly match the name of the mod.

In this case, I suspect that Martin or TGF borrowed droughtwinia's readme and forgot to make the appropriate changes to it.

In general, when modding, especialy when you're new at it, you should put in one thing, then test it, then put in the next. That way, if you have problems you know what is causing it.

Airstrike is not an independant unit, but a Squaddie weapon. Create a squad, draw the Airstrike gesture, and when you use secondary fire they will throw airstrike marker beacons, which will be bombed in short order.

Im not sure how you switch weapons in icon mode.

Yes, you can just create the mods folder. On the windows version, it goes into the main Darwinia folder. On Linux, I think it goes under the Darwinia folder in your home directory. On Mac, I havent a clue, but I'm sure xander will be along to supply details if you need them. Or forum search will tur...

We lost 30:33. We got many more votes than Hl2 did, hell we got more votes than most rounds picked up for both competitors, and we still lost.

Ah well. Thats life.

As has been stated on numerous occasions, neither Steam nor retail customers will be cut off from any Darwinia functionality. If you want to buy Darwinia on Steam as well as retail, then feel free, but you will not be cut off from future updates nor multiplayer functionality for not doing so.

Talking Like This and not punctuating does nothing for readability you know. Anyway. Darwinia will go live on Steam on midnight December 14th 2005, Valve time. Or in 4 1/2 hours if I have the timezones right. Or, I could be talking compelte bollox, but it is stated to come out on the 14th, so at som...

The reason few games come out for Linux is that many render graphics through D3D - which is unavaiable outside windows. Also, even among those games that use OpenGL for the rendering, many games still use other parts of DirectX. None of that is available on Linux, and the APIs you can use on Linux t...

The programs crashed and is looking for a debugger to help the developer trace the cause of the crash.

There should be a black box file somewhere in your darwinia folder, which will help figure out what went wrong. Also you might want to search on the windows issues forums for similar crashes.
