Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

Why are you making it so complicated? Uhm, because it's fun and I want to push the modding system beyond its limits. :) ...also because there are crazy number of bugs and issues with the modding system (particularly the Lua script API) which makes it really difficult to provide concise UI. BTW, CO2...

Re: Prisoners and gardening

It should be possible to do this via updates to jobs.txt ?

Re: Fear that the value of performance is being underestimat

Maybe approach similar to Cities: Skylines would be of use... 1. Path is calculated at start of journey (this seems to be the way it's done in PA already from what I can tell, you can even do this via a Lua script in a mod) 2. Prisoner AI follows that path until it reaches a problem (locked door, bl...

Re: Staff doors for staff and prisoner pathfinding

Even marking an area as staff only won't always prevent prisoners using that route (they'll just get a guard to escort them through the staff only area).

Re: Fear that the value of performance is being underestimat

They've stated they don't plan to do anything more about the large prison performance issues, which is a shame. Unless the code is massively horrendous, the pathfinder should be relatively straightforward to convert to multi-core threaded approach. This game bakes my CPU temps more than anything els...

Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

Slowly getting there with fire extinguishers... http://i.imgur.com/kJZCfuP.png Had to do some trickery with the objects; there's 4 objects that appear on the build menu to make it easy to associate them with rooms, etc., but once built they are automagically replaced by a centralised fire extinguish...

Re: mini cheat engin. like in the videos.

It would certainly help with mod development as well because we could quickly create various scenarios to test our mods.

Re: Insights and suggestions from an integral safety student

Just tried doing a boiler mod but ran in to all sorts of problems, most notably that it's not possible to customise water pipes (because once installed pipes become invisible to the scripting system).

Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

Fire extinguishers I'm currently working on: http://i.imgur.com/5lKlRgl.png Not entirely sure how I'm going to get these to work yet, specifically the scripting API only receives job completion events on the object that 'owns' the job - there doesn't seem to be a way to create a proxy event handler....

Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

If by fire assembly points you mean designated area's where people gather in the event of a fire, then yes. Yup, that's what I mean. The way it works currently is that the assembly point sign is what people will head for. It can be placed in any room so long as it's outside, so you could put it in ...

Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

Assembly area - Zone D: http://i.imgur.com/YNE6DvE.png As there isn't currently any UI events in the API (eg. right-click, or custom info panel links) the assembly point sign is set using either a logic pulse or calling a function via debug panel (in this case "D()" function was invoked).

Re: [Suggestion] Smoke detect/fire alarms/servo valve/poo fl

Fire door preview (front and back shown) - having massive problems implementing this; the API is really broken when it comes to anything relating to doors (especially a door as unique as a fire escape). http://i.imgur.com/xDM779n.png The additional fire signs - showing extinguisher, fire hose, call ...
