Ahhh. Apologies, misunderstood. Hmm. That /would/ make it a lot more interesting and fun, but considering that some people are already having trouble in the demo of *this* one, trying to figure out how to get past the first two hosts? It'd have a fairly narrow fanbase, be difficult to code (outwit a...

Think that one was already mentioned in a number of forms.. direct changes on the coder's part, support for aliasing your own, and from the coder, that you can go in and change the commands yourself to something more pleasing.

Well... I /do/ think highly of myself in a technical regard. That much is true. But by no means do I think I'm the 'smartest man on the planet'. I just know a lot about network engineering and security, as I'm a network engineer.  Most of it comes through a lot of time spent learning and ...

I'm always amazed when someone comes onto the forums of a GAME about hacking looking for actual script kiddie BS. Much less those who would trust something that they don't have any idea about the coding behind it, when it could just as easily simply install a backdoor on the recipient's machine, and...

Another thought. I see that there's a mouse cursor (missed it the first couple times). Perhaps allow it to highlight stuff to copy to a 'scratchpad' window, along with being able to type in the scratchpad to keep notes? One of the things that's been asked for in Uplink for a while now, and a ...

Now that's just frustrating.. being dragged off for RL, and missing a version that might not crash my system any time I try the third machine. :b Ah well. November 1st? Heh. My legal birthday, even if I prefer to celebrate at midnight of Samhain. :) (edit) Anyone else nab a copy while it was up? Loo...

Best ways to find out how to do ANYTHING on Linux.  1) Googlesearch for 'Linux <something> HOWTO'. (In this case, 'Linux cable modem HOWTO')  2) Googlesearch Linux-related forums. Use 'linux', nouns relating to your specific problem, the manufacturer, product ID name (my NIC is a NetGear E...

Personal computer? Which one? I have eight workstations, not counting the two fileservers or the services machine. Simply put? I run a server. My workstation machines (as well as fileservers) are protected behind it. I've got fairly nice pipe compared to a number of people, and I'm not outright stup...

You can only get Revelation from ARC. Delete it... well, you're SOL. Please play again, and don't do that any more. Tripwire is a security daemon for actual servers.. likely heard about it during my little rant about backdoors in another thread. Lets you know if anything's been installed or changed ...

UNbump. Actually, backdoors are fun. Setting up a specific program known to be holed... but in a chroot (or double, triple) jail, with MAJOR limitatations. Watch the script kiddies get in, try to turn it into a porn stash or whatever. Leave them mail from root@localhost commenting on their taste if ...
