Well, the thing is, I got the references for the 'fridge lock and put them together... I've put in bogus codes, and it just gives a 'Incorrect Password, please try again' error. But when I put in the correct one, the whole thing just dumps back to desktop. The coffee machine code works fine, and I'v...

What bullshit? I've got my demo running... can't get past the bit with the 'fridge lock, as it crashes any time I put in the right code.

Fatal Exception: DS154FN. Program Exiting.

ender : I second that motion. Adriac : Very nicely done. Though I'm fairly certain that Trojan will simply post some stream-of-consciousness drivel to show the relation expressed in his statement. Hopefully he will choke on a mouthful of corn before he can do so. Trojan X : There are plenty of main...

Mostly because: A ) History has proven that over 95% of the threads about downloading Uplink are warez-rodent requests from people who need their skulls caved in with a lead pipe; after all, nothing's inside. B ) Having a downloadable package makes it much, much, much, much, much, much, MUCH easier ...

Can't even remember how long it's been.. if I recall correctly, was booted over to the site either from a friend or from a quick little Penny Arcade blurb, but can't remember which came first. Er.. either/or, went through the demo and poked at it for about a half-month, then ordered right in time fo...

Careful, if you ARE the #1 ranked agent when the storyline-start is supposed to happen, there's an obvious problem... and the game just sits and waits for you to drop out of first place before continuing. Might have been fixed in a more recent patch, but it was still doing that the last time I check...

Took me a little over two months, but that was back during the CD pressing problems when NOBODY got 'em, regardless of where they lived. Eh, I preferred getting mine in a plain padded envelope. Jewel case, keycard, CD. Made it feel a lot closer to the idea of the Uplink Corp in the game. Here's your...

If that much. Have an old Stealth3D, and it works on that... very... slowly.

I'd personally just go with the tried-and-true AXE on the Win32 side of things. Linux, any number of editors. Of course... that's if you want to go through it without using the clue at your fingertips already.

Or perhaps just an 'Off Topic' forum, as I've seen on a number of other forum-boards. Would be able to solve everything neatly.

Four things... 1) Human-transmitted computer virii (aka: meme-virii) are even more fun. Write a program to play the 'smurfs' theme song over the PC speaker over and over. Put a spare copy on a few floppies. Start program. Others will ask for copies, hand out floppies for people to copy from. Did thi...

Anyone think we should expose him to octal or hex, and watch his mind pop? ^_^ Seriously, it's just a counting system. Binary is base-2. Decimal (deca) is base-10. Octal is base-8 and Hexadecimal (hex-deca) is base-16 (you use A-F for the extra six 'numbers'). Decimal  Hex  Octal  Bin...

Yes. 'dir' does not show error.log in its listing. It has an error in and of itself. Deleting network.log and typing 'dir' shows a blank directory, but it says '1 file listed'. It lists no files. At least it does on my machine.

Clarification. Where'd that come from, in any kind of continuity relating to the thread?

I can see where I'm supposed to go by reviewing the textfiles out-of-game, but in-game the only visible email points to Firewall. The Dialup box only will show *one* file.. the network.log, even if you know the other (non-listed) filename. At least in the version I have right now. Will see if it's f...
